MTSU ROTC cadets Lisa Hubert, Elizabeth Juergens, Kelsey Kirby and Taylor Wall were commissioned Dec. 16 as second lieutenants into various branches of the U.S. Army.
The annual fall commissioning ceremony, led by professor of military science Lt. Col. T.K. Kast, was held in the Keathley University Center Theater.
Col. Richard A. “Rich” Juergens, U.S. Army Forces Command inspector general, served as guest speaker for the event, which included a pinning ceremony.
All four commissionees are degree candidates who graduated from MTSU on Dec. 17 during commencement ceremonies in Murphy Center.
Hubert, who is from Arlington, Tenn., will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication. She’ll attend Basic Officers Leaders Course, or BOLC, at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., beginning in February 2012, and upon completion will be assigned to Korea. Hubert is married to Lt. David Hubert. Her parents are Lorie and James Boyd of Arlington.
Elizabeth Juergens will graduate with a bachelor’s in criminal justice and will attend BOLC at Fort Gordon, Ga., beginning in February. Upon completion, she will be assigned to Fort Lewis, Wash. She is the daughter of Col. Rich and Diana Juergens of Fayetteville, N.C.
Kirby, who is from Nashville, will graduate with a bachelor’s in biology with a physiology concentration and will attend BOLC at Fort Gordon beginning in February. Upon completion, she will be assigned to Fort Carson, Colo. She is the daughter of William and Robin Kirby of Nashville.
Wall, who is from Murfreesboro, is graduating with a bachelor’s in history and will be working with the Tennessee Army National Guard. He is married to Leslie Wall and is the son of Randy and Theresa Wall of Murfreesboro.
