MURFREESBORO, Tenn — Middle Tennessee State University’s Student Food Pantry has received a $5,000 grant from Publix Super Market Charities through its hunger-relief initiative, support that strengthens the pantry’s ability to provide essential resources to students year-round.

Located on the second floor of the Student Services and Admissions Center on the east side of campus, the Student Food Pantry is fully donation-based and available to every currently enrolled student. The pantry provides food, hygiene products, and everyday essentials at no cost, offering both walk-in hours and an online digital marketplace for students who need flexible access.
“We work to make sure students have what they need, whether that’s food items, household goods, or other basic necessities,” said Melanie Crowder, director of Outreach and Support Programs in the MT One Stop.
In addition to regular operations, the pantry partners with various campus groups to host donation drives throughout the year, helping maintain stock as student needs evolve. Community support remains an important part of the pantry’s ongoing mission, especially as demand fluctuates.

For students like MTSU sophomore Amiracle Willingham, the pantry has become a reliable resource during challenging times.
“I stumbled upon the pantry while looking for financial help, and I’ve used it ever since,” Willingham said. “It’s such a good way for me to get anything I need without having to go anywhere.”
MTSU students who may feel hesitant about seeking help are encouraged to visit and learn about the pantry’s supportive and judgment-free environment.
