Men can don heels to march against violence April 9 at MTSU

From Milton Berle to RuPaul, men have found it difficult to stagger around in women’s shoes.

Violence is neither fashionable nor funny, however. That’s why “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes,” the men’s march to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence, is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at MTSU’s Health, Wellness and Recreation Center.

Men are invited to don high-heeled women’s shoes and attempt to walk on campus to give them an idea of what it is like for a woman to try to run away from an attacker.

Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. Free food and karaoke will be available immediately following the walk.

This event is co-sponsored by the Interfraternity Council, Fraternity and Sorority Life, the June Anderson Center for Women and Nontraditional Students and the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership.
