MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee State University representatives recently appeared on WGNS Radio to discuss this summer’s New to Blue student orientation sessions, upcoming offerings from the Executive Education program, and another great reconnection opportunity through the annual Alumni Summer College.
They appeared on the live “Action Line” program with host Scott Walker broadcast on FM 100.5, 101.9 and AM 1450 from the WGNS studio in downtown Murfreesboro. If you missed it, you can listen to a podcast of the May 19 program.
Guests for the May program included:
• Gina Poff, director of New Student and Family Programs at MTSU, discussed the rebranded “New to Blue” student orientation sessions for summer.

MTSU faculty and staff have already began welcoming the thousands of new freshmen and transfer students to campus this summer for the full-day sessions to ready them for their academic and personal journeys in the Blue Raider community.
Previously known as CUSTOMS, New to Blue Orientation helps new undergraduate students, including transfer students, make the transition into the university; prepares new students for MTSU’s educational opportunities; and initiates the integration of new students into the intellectual, cultural, and social climate of the institution.
• Carly Escue, director of Executive Education at MTSU, discussed program offerings through the Jones College of Business, including details about an exciting upcoming Entrepreneurship course and the Culture-Driven Leadership course.

Set for July 7-10, the McDowell Summer Institute for Entrepreneurship is an immersive four-day experience designed for aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs. Whether you’re building a side hustle, leading a family business, or growing a startup, organizers say this hands-on program will equip you with tools, strategies, and connections to grow your venture.

• Beth Dye, assistant director of alumni engagement in the MTSU Alumni Relations Office, discussed this year’s edition of the Alumni Summer College. (While registration is closed for this year’s event, listen to learn more about the program’s structure and mark your calendar for next year.)

The 16th MTSU Alumni Summer College is set for June 25-27 around the theme of “Masterpiece in the Making: Creativity Beyond the Canvas.” The annual event is an opportunity for alumni and friends to return to campus for three days of interactive presentations, tours and activities that center around this year’s theme.
Alumni Relations partnered with the colleges of Liberal Arts and Behavioral and Health Sciences to provide classes that represent “the artist within all of us.” This year’s event will touch upon topics such as storytelling, acting, dancing, sculpture, fashion and design and more.
Students, faculty and staff who are interested in guesting on WGNS to promote their MTSU-related activities should contact Jimmy Hart, senior director of MTSU News and Media Relations, at 615-898-5131 or via email at jimmy.hart@mtsu.edu.
