MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — “Out of the Blue,” Middle Tennessee State University’s monthly television magazine program, takes a closer look at the Student Government Association in the August episode, exploring how the organization represents students across campus while introducing new SGA President Kennedy Garrett.
The segment breaks down what SGA is and what it does for MTSU’s more than 20,000 students, from legislation and university committees to campus involvement and student advocacy.

The story also explores how SGA connects students directly with university leadership, including through the student body president’s position on the MTSU President’s Cabinet, before looking ahead to the organization’s next chapter under Garrett.
After previously serving as SGA vice president, Garrett is stepping into the presidency with a focus on making the organization more visible, accessible and approachable for students, following in the footsteps of former presidents RJ Ware and Michai Mosby, whose perspectives are also captured in the segment along with Vice President of Student Affairs Danny Kelley.
“If you don’t know where to look, where to turn, who to text, who to call, please know one of your first contacts needs to be Student Government Association,” Garrett said.
Students can connect with SGA through its office in the Student Union or find more information at sga.mtsu.edu .
