MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — “Out of the Blue,” Middle Tennessee State University’s monthly television magazine program, takes viewers inside the university’s new Esports Level Up Arena in the October episode, exploring how the growing program brings students together through competitive gaming, casual play and career opportunities.

The segment highlights the MTSU Esports community, which includes more than 90 members competing across 11 game titles in collegiate leagues and tournaments. Students describe esports as both a competitive pursuit requiring regular practice and a way to find friends and build community on campus.

Located in the Student Union Building, the new Level Up Arena features three dedicated spaces: a public gaming room with 24 Alienware computers, a casual gaming area with large displays and Nintendo Switch consoles, and a competitive room for team practices and tournaments.

“I think it’s the cohesiveness of the space,” said Kyle Greaney, vice president of MTSU’s Esports Club, “That’s my favorite part, the ability to have everybody in here sharing the space.”

The story also explores how esports can connect students with careers beyond competition, including opportunities in video production, advertising and other creative fields.

For MTSU Esports leaders, the arena represents an opportunity to expand the program and recognize competitive gaming as an important part of campus life.

Whether students want to compete against other universities, play with friends or find a new community, the Level Up Arena offers a place for everyone.
