Deans and representatives from eight of MTSU’s colleges will share about the quality programs they offer to prospective students in this week’s “Academic Spotlight,” which will air this week on True Blue TV and the MTSU YouTube channel.
With the Tuesday, Dec. 1, deadline fast approaching to apply to be considered for guaranteed scholarships, host Andrew Oppmann will be sitting down with the deans and academic advisers to discuss their unique offerings and what it is like to be a student in their colleges. Oppmann is MTSU’s vice president of Marketing and Communications.
Registration is required to view the programming. All times below are Central.
The Tuesday, Nov. 10, “Academic Spotlights” lineup:
• 6 p.m. — College of Basic and Applied Sciences.
• 6:30 p.m. — College of Behavioral and Health Sciences.
• 7 p.m. — Honors College.
• 7:30 p.m. — College of Liberal Arts.
These will be rebroadcast at the same times on Monday, Nov. 16.
The Thursday, Nov. 12, “Academic Spotlights” lineup:

These will be rebroadcast at the same times on Thursday, Nov. 19.
“At MTSU, we pride ourselves as being a large, comprehensive university with a small, personal feel,” said Laurie Witherow, vice provost for Enrollment Services. “These academic spotlights allow the personal attention students can expect from us.”
Witherow suggests prospective students “log on to see your dean talk a little about the majors in the college and then chat with academic advisers about any questions you may have. We think if you take a closer look, you’ll like what you see at MTSU.”
A final Virtual True Blue Tour event also is set for 6 p.m. CT Tuesday, Nov. 17. Registration is required.
Linda Olsen, director of undergraduate admissions, said “because we have missed bringing MTSU to a city near you for the True Blue Tour this year, we have added one more opportunity where you can join us virtually for the last True Blue Tour of 2020.”
“You will be able to hear from our admissions staff, our university president, current students and alumni,” Olsen added. “You will even have a chance to win a scholarship or other prizes.”
True Blue TV also airs the Virtual True Blue Tour at 6 p.m. nightly. Watch it on Comcast Xfinity Channels 9 and 1096 in Murfreesboro. Visit www.mtsu.edu/trubluetv for information on how to view the program on Roku, Apple TV and AT&T U-Verse.
CBAS Science Saturday
The College of Basic and Applied Sciences is offering two upcoming, on-campus visit days — 9 a.m. and optional 11 a.m. tours on Saturday, Nov. 14, and Saturday, Nov. 21 — and an opportunity to visit with department chairs and faculty as they share about their programs and facilities.
Registration is required. Space is limited to one prospective student and guest per registration.
Because of COVID-19, masks are required and group sizes will be limited to allow for social distancing, to meet MTSU, state and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
