MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee State University is excited to welcome Murfreesboro native and “American Idol” contestant Jordan McCullough home for a parade in his honor on Wednesday, May 6.
McCullough, a top contestant this season on the long-running singing competition, is currently in the top three. On Wednesday, May 6, a Hometown Parade will be held at 4 p.m. (rain or shine) beginning on South Maple Street and around the square.

MTSU mascot Lightning and MTSU’s dance and cheer teams will be part of the parade to celebrate McCullough’s journey to capture Idol’s Season 24 crown.
“We are so excited to represent MTSU and support Jordan on his journey,” said Brooke Legens, coordinator of the Blue Raider spirit programs.
After the parade, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, McCullough will perform at a concert at the Richard Siegel Indoor Soccer Complex, located at 515 Cherry Lane.
McCullough, a worship director at a Zeal Church in Nashville, has become a favorite on the fan-voted show. With his soulful voice, McCullough has covered songs from Taylor Swift’s “Tim McGraw” to Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby” to Queen’s “Somebody to Love.”
In a social media post, McCullough wrote, “I’m almost home! … No rain will stop our celebration. Can’t wait to see each and every one of you!”

“Murfreesboro is excited to host a special hometown celebration to honor one of our own, Jordan McCullough,” said Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland. “There has been an incredible outpouring of support from our community for Jordan, and we are truly proud.”
