MTSU helps Black Fox school celebrate ‘Asian Culture Night’

A fun-filled night of diversity and entertainment is in store for parents and students alike during “Asian Culture Night” Thursday, May 11.

The free public celebration is slated for 6 to 8 p.m. May 11 at Black Fox Elementary School, 1753 S. Rutherford Blvd. in Murfreesboro.

MTSU’s Saudi Student Association and Confucius Institute, as well as the Nashville Cultural Club Dancers and others, will provide performances that highlight the artistry and history of Asian cultures in the area.

“This great event honors the diversity in our community,” said Black Fox Elementary School Principal Joe Thompson. “Black Fox is proud to host this event each year.”

The event is sponsored by Murfreesboro City Schools and the Confucius Institute at MTSU.

The institute works to enhance the understanding of Chinese culture and to be a resource center for Chinese language, history, contemporary society and culture. It also creates opportunities for exchange and collaboration between communities in Tennessee and China.
