Murfreesboro Christmas Parade will affect MTSU traffic with safety-related road closures

Murfreesboro’s annual Christmas Parade is set for Sunday, Dec. 10, and MTSU is once again providing a staging area for the event, affecting some traffic flow around campus as officials work to ensure the safety of both parade participants and observers.

Between 7 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, through traffic won’t be allowed on Alumni Drive. Womack Lane residents will be permitted to use the Womack lot and Homecoming Circle, but MTSU officials say motorists should expect delays. All other university traffic should detour around the area until MTSU Police issue an “all-clear.”

The intersection of Blue Raider Drive and Alumni Drive also will be closed, and traffic will be detoured through the Bragg Media and Entertainment Lot until parade participants begin to move around 1:30 p.m. for the official 2 p.m. start at the intersection of Middle Tennessee Boulevard and East Main Street.

Once the parade begins at 2 p.m., no vehicular traffic will be permitted along Alumni Drive until the last of the parade participants turn onto Womack Lane.

The boom gate at the east side of the Cope Administration Building on Old Main Circle will be raised to allow traffic to leave campus via Faulkinberry Drive, Blue Raider Drive or MTSU Boulevard.

You can find a special map of the campus road closures on Sunday here. For more information, visit the MTSU Parking Services “Parking Notice” web page here and click on the Dec. 10 entry.
