MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee State University College of Education welcomes all current students, alumni and the community to celebrate education at its April 13 “Spring into Education” event on campus as part of the annual weeklong Alumni Spring Showcase.

The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, in Rooms 141 and 153 at the College of Education building and out on the front lawn at 1756 MTSU Blvd. For parking, check out the campus parking map at https://mtsu.edu/parking/documents/parking-map.pdf.

Attendees can enjoy multiple games like cornhole, bucket ball, ladder ball and more outside. Indoors, attendees can grab a light lunch; participate in a Wellness Wheel activity put on by Michelle Stevens, director of the college’s Center for Fairness, Justice and Equity; tour the building; and meet with Education Dean Neporcha Cone, faculty and other alumni.

“I know it can be a challenge for alumni to take advantage of the whole campus during MTSU’s Homecoming. Because Spring Showcase has a weeklong format and offers activities all over campus, I hope more alumni will be able to make the most of the calendar of events,” said Cone.

“Our alumni are in virtually every profession from classroom teachers, school leaders, counselors and librarians to corporate trainers, researchers, instructional designers and so much more. It would be wonderful to see them, to learn about their time at MTSU, to celebrate their accomplishments and for them to talk with our faculty and staff.”

Attendees will also be treated to complimentary tickets to the day’s baseball game at Reese-Smith Field.

“We want to celebrate education on our campus, in our building,” said Kristen Keene, strategic communications manager for the college and one of the event coordinators. “So many times we only see our alumni — like the teachers and school administrators, counselors and librarians — in their school environments. We want to get them back to campus connecting with other COE alumni, faculty and staff.”

“Spring into Education” is part of the full slate of events during the Alumni Spring Showcase coordinated by the Office of Alumni Relations. All events are listed on www.mtalumni.com under the MTSU Spring Showcase icon.
