‘MTSU On the Record’ examines local life during wartime

Life in the midst of armed struggle between Confederate and Union forces was the topic of a recent edition of “MTSU on the Record” with host Gina Logue on WMOT-FM (89.5 and www.wmot.org).

Shirley Farris Jones, a retired MTSU staffer, and Michael R. Bradley, professor emeritus of history at Motlow State Community College, discussed their book Murfreesboro in the Civil War on the program. You can listen to it here.

Their topics ranged from the lavish wedding of Murfreesboro native Martha Ready to Confederate Gen. John Hunt Morgan to the tragic demise of three Confederate cousins at the hands of federal troops.
