May ‘Out of the Blue’ explores new neuromarketing research in Jones College of Business [+VIDEO]

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — New undergraduate coursework covering neuromarketing and artificial intelligence is in the spotlight for the May edition of “Out of the Blue.” the television magazine program of Middle Tennessee State University.

Gaia Rancati, assistant professor of Marketing in the Jones College of Business, highlights neuromarketing, artificial intelligence, the new Neuromarketing and AI Lab, and undergraduate neuromarketing research can offer students a competitive advantage with program host Andrew Oppmann, vice president of the Division of Marketing and Communications.

Cutting-edge AI software combines with neuroscience technology, including a full laboratory, allowing students to gauge research responses through a hands-on experience.

Watch the segment below:

“We want to prepare students. And differently than other colleges that are hardworking on the master level or Ph.D. level,” says Rancati. “So, we want to provide the student a competitive advantage. We want them to be able to combine neuromarketing and AI. In this way, we are able to provide them more chances to be successful in the market. So, people in the Department of Marketing will be able to work in new jobs that will come out.”

The state-of-the-art lab is composed of three rooms, two of which are for monitoring participants, while the third is purely for neuromarketing alone. This lab has already gained notable attention — including the likes of Google Gemini, with a company product manager scheduled to visit in the fall.

“Our goal is to be ahead … We have the neurophysiological tools like galvanic skin response, heart rate, reaction time test, eye tracking, and so forth … We want to combine the traditional tools with the neurotools,” Rancati insists. “The lab wants to be the leader of the lab in the south of the United States, so this is our vision.”
