MTSU closes Dec. 24 through Jan. 3 for holiday; campus reopens Jan. 4

MTSU will be closed from Thursday, Dec. 24, through Sunday, Jan. 3, 2020, for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, university officials announced.

The university will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, and resume normal business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

Students taking Winter Session online classes from Dec. 21 to Jan. 21 are expected to follow assignment deadlines and class participation guidelines, even when university offices are closed.

During this time, most services will be very limited because of office closures. Available services include:

• MT One Stop Call Center — available 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 28-31 by calling 615-898-2111 for limited financial aid and business office questions as the MT One Stop in the Student Services and Admissions Center will be closed.

• James E. Walker Library — closed, but electronic books, articles and streaming videos available 24/7 at https://library.mtsu.edu; and Ask Us! email available at https://libanswers.mtsu.edu/.

All other students will remain on winter break. Spring semester classes will begin Monday, Jan. 25.

In addition to the library and MT One Stop, holiday closures will include the Student Union Building, Student Health Services and Campus Pharmacy.

An exception will be Phillips Bookstore, operated by Barnes & Noble College and a part of the Student Union, 1768 MTSU Blvd. In addition to being open Dec. 18 and Dec. 21-23, it will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 28-30. Customers should use the outside entrance facing MTSU Boulevard.

The Campus Recreation Center fitness center facilities and indoor pool are closed now through Jan. 3, and reopen Jan. 4. Rec Center offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 18 and Dec. 21-23.

Following the break, daily campus tours will resume Monday, Jan. 11, in the Student Services and Admissions Center. There will be 11 a.m. tours Jan. 11-15. Starting Jan. 18, daily tours will be at 9:45 and 11 a.m., and 12:15, 1:30 and 2:45 p.m. For more information about tours, call 615-898-5670 or visit www.mtsu.edu/tours.

During the holiday break, the MTSU Lady Raiders basketball team will entertain Conference USA opponent Florida Atlantic University in back-to-back games in Murphy Center at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, and 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2. Because of COVID-19, attendance is currently limited to family members only and both games are subject to change because of the virus.
