The Jones College of Business and College of Liberal Arts invite all MTSU students “driven to improve the community and world” to attend the fourth annual Nonprofit and Social Innovation Student Summit.
This year’s summit will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, in the Student Union Ballroom and will be immediately followed by the Volunteer and Internship Fair from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. where students can meet representatives from local nonprofits seeking student volunteers and interns.
Organizers remind students that online registration for the summit is free and that featured sessions are arranged around class times so students can attend the sessions that fit their schedules.
- “The ME Brand: Discover & Manage Your Personal Brand.” Featured speaker will be Kia Jarmon, a public relations expert and frequent college speaker. This 9:40 to 11:05 a.m. session is not just focused on nonprofit/social sector work and will provide important insights for students across disciplines, organizers say.
- “Young Social Entrepreneurs and Nonprofit Leaders.” Presenters for this 11:20 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. session will be leaders/founders Emily Winters of Strings for Hope, Will Anderson of Salemtown Board Co., and Claressa Ham of Archie’s Promise.
- “Winds of Change: Pursuing the Opportunities.”Session leaders for this 1 to 2:25 p.m. workshop are Meredith Sullivan Benton and Jennifer Oldham of The Healing Trust and Ryan Van Winkle of Bright Spark. They will discuss changes in problem solving through the lens of design thinking, changes in philanthropy/grants, and the likely reshaping of government regulations and funding that impact nonprofits and the people they serve.

More than 35 nonprofits will be attending Volunteer and Internship Fair and students do not have to be registered for the summit to attend.
