December ‘Out of the Blue’ celebrates ‘Joys of the Season,’ shares focus on youth media, family literacy

The December 2019 edition of the “Out of the Blue” television magazine show from Middle Tennessee State University, available to watch above, features conversations about the “Joys of the Season,” how young people around the world use and work with media, and the gift of literacy. Join us to hear from:

• Dr. Reed Thomas of the School of Music in the College of Liberal Arts, who’s joined by the MTSU Wind Ensemble to share some seasonal music.

• Dr. Sanjay Asthana of the School of Journalism and Strategic Media in the College of Media and Entertainment, who shares some of his research on — and personal experience with — how young people use and work with media.

• Dr. Katie Schrodt of our College of Education, who explains how MTSU’s getting involved with a new community program that gets books into very young readers’ hands.

You can watch “Out of the Blue,” with host Andrew Oppmann, anytime online and on Murfreesboro cable Channel 9 daily at 7 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and on NewsChannel5+ at 3:30 p.m. Sundays. “Out of the Blue” also is available as iTunes and Google Play podcasts and on other cable outlets in Middle Tennessee, so check local listings.

Enjoy previous editions of “Out of the Blue” here in our archives, too.
