Police offer free pepper-spray class for campus, community women

The MTSU Police Department will offer a free pepper-spray and self-defense class for women as part of the Rape Aggression Defense System on April 12 and 19 in the Police Department Annex on East Main Street.

The class is open to MTSU students, faculty and staff as well as the general public. It’s scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. each session, and participants must attend each class session. Each student will receive a free class manual.

The Police Department Annex, also known as the College Heights Building on campus, is located at 1601 E. Main St.

Discussion topics will include the legal aspects of using pepper spray for self-defense, product selection, basic hands-on self-defense, pepper-spray deployment and relief from accidental exposure.
