February ‘Out of the Blue’ showcases ‘age-friendly’ status, Black History Month events, oral history projects [+VIDEO]

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — On the February episode of “Out of the Blue,” the television magazine for Middle Tennessee State University, viewers will learn details of MTSU’s designation as an “age-friendly” university, get a preview of Black History Month events, and get updates about an important ongoing oral history project.

The guests sat down with Andrew Oppmann, program host and vice president of the Division of Marketing and Communications, from studios located in the Center for Educational Media inside the McWherter Learning Resources Center on campus.

• Danielle Rochelle, director of the Office of Intercultural and Diversity Affairs, explores the significance of Black History Month at MTSU and how the university celebrates the contributions of our community members through a variety of special events.

• Jason McGowan, oral historian at the Albert Gore Center, shares details about his selection by the National Park Service and the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development to capture key historical interviews related to important local milestones.
