MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — In the June edition of “Out of the Blue,” the television program for Middle Tennessee State University, viewers will hear discussions of the education opportunities through the Center for Educational Media, two research-centered majors in the College of Liberal Arts, and all about an MTSU signature academic program.

This month’s guests were interviewed by program host Andrew Oppmann, vice president of the Division of Marketing and Communications, from studios located in the Center for Educational Media inside the McWherter Learning Resources Center on campus.
June’s guests include:
• Dr. Laura Clark, director for the Center for Educational Media, discusses the center and its evolution from a satellite education distribution network into a well-respected resource on MTSU’s campus.

The CEM provides educators nationwide with development opportunities delivered in-person and online through streaming on True Blue TV and is dedicated to supporting the College of Education through its media, engineering, technical systems, Professional Development Center, and a growing library of on-demand videos available for educators.

• Shannon Hodge, program director and associate professor of anthropology in the Sociology and Anthropology Department, discusses educational opportunities for undergraduate students interested in sociology and anthropology in the College of Liberal Arts.
Sociology and anthropology are two distinct academic disciplines that focus on the study of people and how they function within society. Students in this department could then go through career paths within public service, nonprofit organizations, or higher education.

• Dr. Chaney Mosley, associate director of the Tennessee STEM Education Center at MTSU and director of the School of Agriculture, details the various educational opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Basic and Applied Sciences.
The School of Agriculture is considered one of MTSU’s signature academic programs, offering a variety of distinctive majors with hands-on experiences within careers in agriculture.
