Due to a time-sensitive, major infrastructure project required on the north side of campus, Middle Tennessee State University has closed access to the sidewalk that runs between the football practice fields and the Reese Smith Baseball Field and Stadium as a safety precaution.
This closure began Monday, Sept. 19, and will last approximately until mid-November, weather permitting.
While the MTSU Raider Xpress “Green Route” will continue to serve the Greenland Drive lot, MTSU officials say the closure will require commuters and others who park in that lot to use a sidewalk detour created for pedestrians to reach the inner parts of campus.
Detour signage will direct pedestrians to the sidewalks that run between Murphy Center and the west side of Floyd Stadium toward Faulkinberry Drive to other sidewalks connected to the remainder of campus. (See map below.)
MTSU officials ask that all pedestrians follow the detour signage that will be placed in this area for their safety and that of construction workers for the duration of the project.
Anyone with a vision impairment who needs help with wayfinding can download the Aira app to their smartphone. Aira is a live, on-demand audio description service that provdes free wayfinding assistance to the user through their smartphone camera.
